I agree. Some foam dielectrics are more fragile than others, and 
some center conductors are more inflexible than others. Combine the 
two and you could poke a short into the cable. Also suspect that you 
may have broken a poorly terminated F-connection at one end or the 
other. I've had this happen more than once.
