You can also combine body fade with an adjustable attenuator made by 
dropping an HT into a Pringles can covered in duct tape. To decrease 
attenuation gradually, and lift it out of the can by its lanyard.  KR6DD 
demonstrated this technique used for VHF OO.  (So a Pringles can an be 
used for gain or attenuation, hihi.)
