Search for 'Low voltage lighting solid state "transformers"' in the
archives. At the local electrical supply house, I found a filtered unit
made by RSA Lighting, model RT60A. These units are still switchers, and
although they're considerably smaller than a conventional transformer,
they're much larger than the offending units they replaced.

In my case, the offending units were made by various manufacturers, and
all quite small. They obviously contained NO filtering, and the noise
was being injected into the overhead power lines. The supply house told
me that they sell "hundreds" of these to electricians every week.
