It could be a problem with the headphones as well.  I had a pair of sony
noise cancelling ones that developed this same problem.  If you ground
yourself - it probably reduces the amount of AC your body has in it and
makes it go away.  You can perhaps prove this by moving the earpiece away
from your ear and seeing if the hum goes away (if you can get thing quiet
enough around you to hear it).

Bose is pretty good about repairing them for a flat rate.
