Virtually anything that is roughly the desired shape will word, be it plastic or metal: Cook ware, kids snow saucers, etc. Just go into Lowe's, Home Depot, Sears, Koh'ls, or hard ware stores and look around. Let your imagination be your guide.


While some sort of non-parabolic reflector may gather more energy and still allow you to DETECT the ultrasonic signature of arcing, the pattern of the non-parabolic reflector will not be as good and the ability to accurately LOCATE the arc will be reduced.

A classic case of "built just like QST, EXCEPT ......." and the efforts to build something useful will be in vain.

And, unfortunately, the design will get the criticism and not the execution.
