I'm digging through boxes and the bones of past projects to see if I have a 6EF1. I have used a number of that type over the years. The ones I had were very effective at HF and 6M but did little to nothing at 2M. If I don't find one in my stuff I will pick one up on eBay and try it.

Yes. If I'm understanding you correctly, this is a filter sort of built into 
the universal male line plug. An important reason why filters like this, which 
are relatively simple ones by virtue of their size, works so well is that it is 
internal to the computer chassis and its green wire is bonded to the shielding 
enclosure.
