In GA, and likewise in LA, TX and the south in general, you want to install a COMBO system with a heat pump so you can heat OR cool...  geothermal COOLING can save bunches in the deep South. I have my plan all drawn out to lay in 10 foot deep trenches 3 foot wide and fill them with looped lines...  No need to drill vertical wells since I have the square footage to accommodate trenches.  I DO believe many geothermal setups use variable speed drives, but you CAN  mitigate them or choose alternatives.  Just waiting for my current HVAC to become uneconomically repairable....  I've repaired it myself several times.... It just keeps on going.

Do you have to cool much at all where you are in MI?  I'm guessing not...

Looked into it with two contractors. They did use variable speed motors, but our house is so well insulated that the system might only save abt $20 a month with a 50 year payback.  The installation of the wells, or field can create quite a mess.

My son has one in GA and with their weather they don't install the wells or fields which makes that system far less expensive,  OTOH on abnormally cold days, the blower and electric heat kicks in $$.  Don't know about RFI

Anyone have any RFI experience with this unit?

Thanks
