RG-8 uses braid not stranded wire. Braid is
an inappropriate choice

The wisdom of using RG-8 for this application is not apparent to
me. Why not use an appropriate solid or stranded wire with lugs
on each end?

I had envisioned RG-8 with the braid and center connected together, with
appropriate lugs on each end to attach to a clamp or tower bolt, and
weatherproofing it to keep it all dry.
