I don't remember which (don't have my QSTs here with me) but I remember there is a reference to FM on the cover itself. Old timers simply used Terman's rule of thumb to quickly compute FM bandwidths. Here is a nice obit of Terman: http://www.smecc.org/frederick_terman.htm Unfortunately the author of the obit, O. G. "Mike" Villard, W6QYT recently went silent key himself. W6QYT introduced many QST readers to how SSB worked in the '50s. Some might remember his "Selecto-ject" circuit in QST. He also wrote QST articles in the 1950s with A. M. Peterson (ex-W6POH, S.K.) on backscatter and meteor scatter. 73 Chen, W7AY
