Friday night I responded to a RTTY CQ from F4CTJ who had an excellent easy
to print signal to South Texas with his Kenwood TS-2000 using MIXW 2.7. To
say something other than a brief signal report I ask him to share his
frequency display reading on the TS-2000. He came back saying he was reading
14085.3. I thanked him for sharing and after the QSO I noted my Kenwood
TS-570D(G) was displaying 14089.33. Using the Excel cheat sheet that
subtracts 2125 Hz, I would have called the MARK frequency at 14087.2. I
then looked on the AB5K-2 AR Cluster and noted AD6WL spotted F4CTJ at
14087.2. That seemed to track with my lame TS-570 that has to be manually
corrected. I was using the AFSK in the Kenwood LSB/FSK mode.
Someday I hope to work someone and agree on the frequency. I have not been
able to track with Kenwood's must less other rigs. The cluster spots seem to
be all over the place and the PSK spots are even more hosed.
