Subject: [milpack] NOTICE: Vietnam Veteran's Reunion special event station
25, 26, 27 April
My friend K9WT will be running a special event station at
the Vietnam Veteran's Reunion in Melbourne, FL this weekend,
25, 26, and 27 April. He'll be on both USB voice and RTTY.
The trick on the RTTY is that it's 850cps shift, 45.45 baud,
mark low. This is the standard used by the MD-522 FSK modem
in the original Vietnam-vintage GRC-106. The station's call
will be K4V.
This is a chance for GRC-106 system owners who also have the
MD-522 to try out their stuff on the air. It's also
an opportunity for HFpackers to try some /PM on the voice
freeks.
Of course, you don't need the MD-522. PC programs like MMTTY can
be easily set up for 850 shift. Remember to set MMTTY on
[REV]erse for operation on USB. For those setting up from
scratch with modems like the Kam-Plus or similar, I believe the
details are:
Mark: 1575cps (2000-425)
Space: 2425cps (2000+425)
Center tone frequency: 2000cps
