Actually doesn't make any sense to do this. It would take longer to make the
QSO if there is more than one caller. Dick's right -
a lot of confusion.
I now almost always send just "<carriage return/line feed>599 001 001<space>"
when I'm S&P and the RUN station has my call
correctly. No need to send my call again, the other station already knows it
and has it right. No need for me to send his call
because hopefully he/she already knows their own call.

Hmmm. Are you sure these RUN stations were just sending a report without a
call sign? Is it possible that you missed printing the
call sign.as you wer monitoring? If you're right, then I agree, that is a an
amazing, and selfish, way to operate.
