Ah, thereby is the rub.
Their baud rate is so slow that when you are listening for a response to QRL,
they could be transmitting somewhere else up to 2 kHz away, but only many
seconds later land near where your RTTY is transmitting.
Also, it is very likely you can't hear the signal at all and still be able to
decode it.
