I managed to jump on at 00:20. I'm always late to the ballgame. Opened
up N1MM, thought I selected ARRLRTTY but selected ARRRTTY instead. Go
figure. Made five contacts and then realized that although it was
accepting everything I put into it, none of the useful exchange was
saved. Fortunately I had a history to go back and look at.
I realized that in N1MM there is an ARRRTTY module [which I was using] and
an ARRLRTTY module [which I should have been using]. Got the right one in
there, manually entered the five contacts, went to change the dates, and
got the convoluted error about duplicates and it wouldn't save the time
change. Finally figured out to export the Qs from the ARR module to ADIF
and then import them back into the new ARRLRTTY contest module. Worked
great.
Another 20 minutes had passed by this time. I then went looking for
stations, and it was completely silent. Of course I halfheartedly
expected this would be the case being that it's been dark for nearly 3
hours on the east coast.
Guess I need to wake up bright and early [for once] and commence with the
festivities. Usually I manage to tinker around on the radio no earlier
than 9 am. I'll jump on earlier and start CQing and we'll see what happens.
Interestingly, out of all of the stations I managed to work, I had worked
none of them in the TARA Melee previous to it. I guess that might be a
good sign. Obviously people know about this new contest. I suspect
tomorrow is going to be another fun-filled day of RTTY. Hope to work many
