Federal Communications Commission
April 1, 2012
Due to the great success of the recent reorganization of the 60 meter band, the
FCC has decided to take it a step further.
Effective today, the FCC has created 700,000 new channels in the 60 meter band
and one channel will be assigned to each licensed amateur. Every Radio Amateur
in America will now have their own frequency.
Because of this, the other bands are no longer necessary and have been shut
down.
Since everyone now has their own frequency, the terms "QRM" and "QSY"
are no longer needed and have been stricken from the Amateur's
Dictionary.
The Apple Computer Company has acquired the old bands for use with their new
sPad (s for shortwave) and in return, will pay off the National Debt. Many
thanks, Apple - we wondered how that was gonna happen!
At Apple's request, one small change will be made in Part 97. Everywhere the
word "watts" appears, it will be changed to "microwatts". Seems simple enough.
Should be no problem.
A great day for all Radio Amateurs! Write it down - April 1, 2012.
73, Bill W6WRT
