You might want to hear the interview with the young female copilot of that helicopter (including an interview with the rescue swimmer). I heard it on "The Story With Dick Gordon" radio program (NPR) last week (Friday, IIRC). Their promo text:

"Flying Into 30-foot Waves: A Coast Guard Pilot and Swimmer

Dick speaks with U.S. Coast Guard helicopter pilot Jane Pena, who flew into Hurricane Sandy to rescue the crew of the HMS Bounty that went down in high seas. She passes the phone to Coast Guard swimmer Randy Haba, who was lowered into the storm with flippers and a snorkel mask. He swam to a life raft and one-by-one rescued five crew members and hoisted them back up into the helicopter."

I think you can listen to the podcast at http://thestory.org/archive/20121109_The_Story__Assignment_Afghanistan.mp3/view . Not sure because this computer's speakers are on the fritz.
