The only drawback with having a SteppIR is having a SteppIR on a 72'
self supporting tower, having 74 year old legs and two titanium knees,
and a fear of climbing over 30 feet. My 4 element has been out of
commission since March of 2017. I finally had a club member climb and
find a torn control cable. That resulted in a blown driver in the
controller. Now, I'm waiting for warmer weather to have the cable
replaced. It was -4 Sunday morning!
I operated in the RU and WPX with wire antennas and a Mosley CL33 at 35
feet. WPX was a SB40 effort.
The SteppIR is more than worth it just for the 180 degree feature.
I had 9 years of error free service but, with a crank up tower, I
wouldn't have had this long of a wait.
73,
Tom W8JWN
