I would like to strongly support Paul in his policy of moving forward with SD development. I quite understand how users of old equipment with a legacy operating system might feel - but I'm sure that the majority of new and renewing subscribers to SD are using modern equipment running Windows. I myself spent many hours trying to help a pal get SD running on a new Toshiba laptop using Windows XP. It was hopeless - we gave up in the end. When Paul released the first Windows version of SD, everything was fine.

To those who believe that Windows somehow prevents timings to be well controlled on peripheral equipment, quite the reverse is true. Modern hardware has drivers that can only be employed by Windows (or Linux, in many cases). All that is required is proper programming to use the capability. Apparently WinKey (I've not tried it) does this well.

To those who believe that Windows versions of SD are "bloatware", they are mistaken. I know that the compiler that Paul is using does not produce bloated applications, but slim highly efficient ones. I'm looking forward to the Windows SDV.

And hats off to Paul for making the final SD/DOS version freeware! That should keep everyone happy.

Also, well done Paul on your work at 3B9C!
