The REF SSB contest takes place from 0600 UTC Saturday 26th February
to 1759 UTC Sunday 27th February. Full rules (in French) at

http://concours.ref-union.org/reglements/2003/reg_cdfhf_fr_0403.pdf

It's like a French Commonwealth Contest except that everyone can take
part (on the 5 bands from 80 to 10m). SD directly supports this event.
It is freeware from www.ei5di.com, and runs on any Windows PC.

French stations send 59 + département number or country prefix
(Overseas Territories). Other stations send 59 + Serial, and work
"French" stations only - with multipliers for départements and
certain country prefixes.

French stations include Mainland France, Corsica, and French
Overseas Territories.

Select SD Type 10 - General, Country and Area Multipliers.

          .MLT File: REF
.CTY File: REFDX (for non-French entrants)
                      REF (for French entrants)
  Multipliers Count: B (by band)
Points per QSO: 0 (variable points)
          Pts/Bonus: 0 (multipliers)
          Next Page: Y
Points per Area QSO: 0 (UK entrants)
Non-Area QSOs count
           as mults: Y
Points vary by Mode: N
            by Band: N
        by Location: Y
             Points: 0 1 3 (UK entrants)
Receive Serial from
          Area QSOs: N
               Mode: SSB
         Mixed-Mode: N

NOTE for entrants. Scoring is by continent, but SD does not know what
continent you're in, because your prefix and country are not included
in the REFDX file.

So, please add your own country record, from DXCC.CTY, to REFDX.CTY.
If you do not do this, SD will not score correctly, and you will have
to edit many QSO records after the contest - although your Cabrillo
log will not be affected.

SD identifies which stations you can work for points. If it displays
the country name and beam heading, once you've entered two or more
callsign characters, then it's OK to go ahead. You can log other
stations, but they will not score.

Single Ops are restricted to 28 hours - in no more than 3 periods of
a minimum of 1 hour each.

After the Contest, use SDCHECK to create your Cabrillo .LOG file,
rename it to YOURCALL.LOG and email it, as an attached file, to
cdfssb@ref-union.org.

73,
Paul EI5DI
