I don't have the latest version of SD installed on my laptop (I am a
dinosaur...) but I confirm direct frequency entry works fine with my
K2 (I have Windows 98SE on the laptop and a real serial port). In
each of the following cases typing the frequency into the QSO field
of SD (ie 14060) takes the K2 directly to that frequency - even to
the WARC bands if I try (although SD still says 40m for 10106 for
instance...).

SDDos V10.15
SDI Dos V10.04
SDWin 11.34

In each case the kenwood.sd file is dated 15/8/97

I don't normally use this method in contests, it is far easier to
change the frequency/band on the K2 and let SD follow.

Maybe something has changed in recent versions?
