I use Excel for casual operating, one file per year, and import my
SD.log contest files into that.

It's possible, but probably more trouble than it's worth.
All SD QSOs must have a unique reference/record number,
often corresponding to the Serial Sent. Otherwise, you'll
get a warning notice when loading the file, and edits will
not be possible.

Sorry, this is not a practical option because SD and SDX QSOs
have different record lengths and layouts.
