The 2012 CW Open, sponsored by the CW Operator's Club
www.cwops.org, takes place in three separate 4-hour
sessions this weekend. You can enter any number of
the sessions - they're all scored individually.

Anyone can enter - times are

Saturday 1st September 1200-1559Z
                        2000-2359Z
Sunday 2nd September 0400-0759Z

It is CW-only on the 6 HF contest bands.
Rules at http://www.cwops.org/cwopen.html

SD V16.00a is free and unrestricted in this event
- www.ei5di.com. You don't need to be registered
or have a key file.

  Select the "CW Open" template.

Everyone works everyone. Exchange Serial and Name.
There's no 5NN - that's so last century!

One point per QSO, but a multiplier for each different
valid callsign worked, regardless of band.

Some hints about logging the exchange.
Type the serial and name as a single continuous
field, for example 23FRED, followed by Enter - SD
expands this to 023 FRED.

After entering a matching callsign, you'll find that
SD pre-fills the names of CW Ops members and places
the cursor at the start of the name. When you type
the serial, it will appear in front of the pre-filled
name. Hit Enter as soon as you've completed the
serial to log the QSO.

You should experiment with a test file first!

Use SDCHECK to create your Cabrillo log, and upload
it at www.b4h.net/cwops/

Please mention SD in your Cabrillo soapbox comments,
especially the fact that it's free in the CW Open.

73,
Paul EI5DI
