Jim, Brian and all

I echo your statements, simplicity of software which works on all the windows machines I have tried, a big thank you to Paul to keep it current.

Totally agree Brian.

I really like the simplicity of SD for single operator use.
For general DX'ing, I use DX Clusters and RBN's, or skimmers. These are
interfaced through the 'CC User' software to my various logging and data
software.

However, I do not like using clusters and RBN's for 'Contests' as I believe
it takes a lot of the personal skill element out of them.
I have tried N1MM and Wintest but keep coming back to SD as it seemingly
works on practically any Windows based PC and is there is no steep learning
curve and the best bit for me is not having a 'mouse' to use, allowing me to
keep my right hand near the key.

Also, the recent addition of the ability to 'set' or 'clear' the RTS and DTR
lines of the COM ports has been a real help to me with my various station
configurations.

And of course, if you like it that much and have sufficient funds, you can
always make a small donation through Paul's website, which, as your email
reminded me, I must do.

Keep up the good work Paul!

In my WPX CW Contest report on various Reflectors I commented on a problem
which corrupted the scoring in 'SD'. although the cause was entirely of my
own making I had a mail from Paul offering to sort it out, which he duly
did.

Working apparently alone it cannot be easy to keep on top of constant
changes in contesting, plus the fact that new additions/changes to software
throw up bugs somewhere else in the program, a fact of a programmers life I
guess.

Even though now 'SD' is free we still get the immediate support, without the
need to even ask for it in my case, and, to a PC Numpty like myself, that
means a lot.

To other 'SD' users I would say be mindful of this, it is easy to be
neglectful of the time / work put in on our behalf which is deserving of
donations.
