V18.00 13 March 2015
SD is no longer free:
"Free" has turned out to be unsustainable, so
it's back to registration and key files.
The fee is 20 euros. Registered users get a key
file, sd.key, that activates current and future
versions (for 12 months) of SD when used with
the registered callsign. The key file does not
expire - any version of SD that it activates now
will work for ever, without restriction, in the
presence of the key file.
Your expiry date of the key file for activating
updates is shown on SD's opening screen.
When the key file is missing or edited/corrupt,
or if SD is used with an unrelated callsign, SD
runs in DEMO mode. In this mode, QSO logging is
delayed for 30 seconds after the first 10 QSOs
in each log.
There are no unrestricted contest options for
unregistered users.
If you prefer to continue using whatever free
version of SD you may have, do not download
V18.00 without first taking backup copies of
the older version of SD.EXE. SD V18.00 will
not load earlier logs, but you can still use
SDCHECK V18.00 on those logs to generate any
needed reports.
Africa DX Contest:
Added support on CW/SSB, with correct points and
mults tracking.
CW Keying - WinKey.
Esc now reliably stops message playback. Note
that, when playing the F2 exchange message
in WinKey, Esc may clear a pre-filled exchange
field. There's no need to worry, a second Esc
restores this field.
WinKey - CQ Timer:
The CQTIMER (or CQT) command may be used to
automatically repeat your F1 CQ message at
selected intervals, from the end of playback,
of 1 to 15 seconds. To disable repeats, set
CQT to zero.
Repeats are interrupted when any character is
typed in the Callsign field, or when minus is
pressed. While the CQTIMER value is non-zero,
Enter, in an empty Callsign field, re-starts
repeats.
The former R0 to R15 commands are discontinued.
PACC Contest for PA entrants:
The template was set up for working non-PA
entrants only. Fixed.

When you install a new version of SD, you may have
to adjust the size of the default window to fill
your screen. If necessary, do this for both SD and
SDCHECK.
Click on the title bar, or the SD icon, at the top
LHS of the window and select Properties, then Font.
If you have a widescreen (16:9) monitor, select the
Lucida Console font. For a 4:3 monitor, select the
Consolas font (not available on XP). Then choose
whatever size of font you prefer. SD's window
expands or contracts in direct proportion to the
chosen font size.
If you find bugs in V18.00, please send me the
details - pokane at ei5di dot com. Older versions
are not supported, so please confirm that the
problem exists in V18.00.
Please let me have your suggestions for changes
or additions, or support for new contests.
73,
Paul EI5DI
