Hello, another update from the Ten-Tec factory in scenic
Sevierville, TN:

The delivery date for the new Centaur 411 amplifier has been pushed
back a couple of weeks. We are short on sheet metal. This is also
causing some minor kit delivery delays as well. We expect the Centaur
to be ready around September 10. We did a pilot production run in
July, sent them out to hams outside the company to get some valuable
perspective, and are now getting them back. They will be sold as
demo units at a discount with the full warranty, and we have at least
one in stock right now if you'd like to be the first kid on the block
to have a new toy.

The closeout of the Paragon II continues. All new stock is gone and
demo units with full warranty are still available at a discount.

We are continuing to take orders for the gold series Titan amplifier.
We need to receive a minimum of 50 orders before going ahead with
this production run, and at present it looks good. You can order
without leaving a cash deposit - just your name, callsign and address.

We have a healthy supply of used gear on hand at the moment:
Omni-D, Delta I, Delta II, Corsair II, Paragon I, Paragon II, and
even a single used OMNI-VI.

Thanks to all of you who stopped by our booth at the Huntsville, AL,
hamfest over the weekend of August 17 and 18. Myself, Wayne KQ4EG,
Paul WD4EBR, and Don KF4HHO were glad to see all of you and attach
faces to the voices we hear every day over the phone.

Work on the lobby Ten-Tec store continues. We are revamping the
ham shack for public use, hopefully to do something more like the
ARRL does, where you can come by and get on the air for a couple of
hours with our gear (of course, you're welcome to do that now, but
we're trying to make it a little more comfortable). The new
carpeting is in, furniture coming in the fall. The crankup...well...
doesn't. The 40 meter yagi is being rebuilt, and new coax runs
and a bigger rotator are ready to go on the tower, if we can just
find an employee brave enough to try to tilt the tower over :-)
If you're going to be in the Smoky Mtn/Knoxville area, we give tours
of the factory from 9-11 and 1-3 Mon-Fri.

Random Ten-Tec trivia factoid: two-thirds of all Ten-Tec employees
are female. Surprised?

"You say you've got to have a change of scene..." (Dave Mason)
Ten-Tec has a job opening in our engineering department. We are
looking for an engineering technician. 2 to 5 years of industry
analog RF design experience desired. Amateur radio license a plus.
If interested, send a cover letter and resume to Tom Salvetti, in
care of Ten-Tec.

Finally, thanks to all of you who have sent us encouraging notes
via e-mail or have called to tell us you like what we are doing.
We never tire of hearing it!

73 Scott Robbins KY2P, Ten-Tec
