Hello Everyone,

My Omni VI arrived back from Sevierville this afternoon after its brief
visit for the Option #3 Upgrade. About three weeks with some added
warranty work. Very fast turn-around.

How is it? In a word...AMAZING.

For those of you waiting your turn it will be without a doubt worth the
wait and worth every penny you spend.

I will be evaluating mine over the next few days and try to summarize my
opinions in a later message. But for now.....

Initial findings:

Noise Reduction: Best I have used in any rig to date. Bests my W9GR
DSP III nr circuit which I have found to be very good. Much less ring
and hollow effect that with other outboard and inboard NR circuits.
Seems really optimized for the VI. Signals pop out at you especially in
CW.

LPF: In concert with NR on SSB it creates awesome QRM reducing effects.
Its not just for CW anymore! Rolls off band hiss very nicely.

Menu Selection: Arranged logically and conveniently. Makes more sense.
No more lengthy scrolling. Moving some choices to front
panel keys from menu and vice versa makes good sense.

Second IF Narrow filter: No more choosing between SSB or CW. You can
have one for each. Combined with NR and LPF about the best QRM reduction
you will find. As an op who works 70% SSB and 30% CW I really like this.

Downsides or Glitches: None found so far. Rig was well cared for and
appears almost like new. Notice no side effects from the upgrade
initially. Even the audio gain control seems a bit more linear.

Those of you in line for the upgrade later on should be very pleased
with the results.

Congrats to TenTec for sponsoring the upgrade program. They will make
alot of Omni VI owners very, very happy. Who else does this ...eh?

More to follow. But for now, I gotta get back on the air! C'ya later.
