I would thank the former poster for honest comments on the PTO.
They are the only real "bug" in the early Ten Tec series, and
they are not really a "bug" as much as they were an intelligent
tradeoff of cost / performance. They just take some care.

Now, when talking about the "OMNI series" radios, you really
have two completely different classes of rigs. The OMNI-D
(series A, B and C) are early rigs, single conversion with
few features but good basic performance. They were made in
the late '70's.

The OMNI V and OMNI VI are in a completely different class in
my opinion. These rigs are not simple, basic radios, but
pretty sophisticated modern radios. They are dual conversion
with the ability to place crystal filters in each IF for very
sharp selectivity. They use synthesized VFO's for better
stability.

I used to refer to the Corsair I and Corsair II as the "OMNI 3
and OMNI 4" (if you count the early OMNI's as OMNI 1 and 2) so
you might include them in the mix, they were Ten Tec flagship
radios for a time. They are the PTO controlled dual conversion
radios, really pretty good if you can get a deal on them. They
will keep up with all the latest radios in specs in many ways.
