[TenTec] OmniD rx hotrodding

I have been comparing my old faithful OmniD to a Scout and OmniV and VI 
and am finding that it is just not quite as sensitive as the others. Even on 40
where there shouldn't be any difference. I am wondering if anyone out there
has found some way to 'hotrod' the rx front end. Of course, I could put
a preamp in the line. But that would require QSK switching, shielding, etc.
