We have this discussion on the reflector every few months or so,
but for the "file" I wanted to interject some of the same comments
made previously about the Omni-VI and Omni-VI Plus and the spurious
emission issue.

There are a number of unfilterable in-band spurious emissions that
are produced as a result of the Omni's crystal mixing scheme. As you
can see from a couple of recent posts, each radio is unique. Part of
the engineering trade-off for the enhanced phase noise and overall
receiver performance of the Omni series is that there are some spurs
present, particularly noticeable on the 28 MHz band.

The majority of these spurs are not present when a live antenna is
connected to the transceiver. There was a long post to the reflector
(that should be readable via the archive) by K5KVH regarding spurs,
dummy loads, no loads, and antenna loads that is worth a re-read for
reference.

We have always been careful to point out, when asked, that these spurs
do exist. The vastly improved overall receiver performance, in our
view, is more than worth the trade-off involved.
