I am not an expert on these matters by any stretch of imagination, But the
first thought I had was the new wider signal might mix with another
signal. Or it might be wider than the IF can handle and cause some kind
of "intermod type problem" if not these there must be some problem, or
they would not feel there is.
Not much information here I know, but it is all I can offer.

Hi Everyone,

Like Clark, WA3JPG, I am confused on the response of TT about the use
of
wider filters in the Omni VI. My experience with crystal filter
modifications on older non-TT crystal mixed rigs of years gone by
did not result in any serious decline in performance or radio specs.

While I admit that my engineering knowledge is limited my practical
experience tells me not so. In any case I am very curious to learn more
on why in increase of 300 hz in bandwidth would be so critical on SSB
relative to spurious emissions, carrier suppression and such.

Can someone enlighten?

In my opinion if wider filters truly will result in performance problems
then the special order project should be dropped. If not then.......
