Hi Mike...yes, I was trying to be helpful although it sounded fecitious,
didn't it?

But then your initial email sounded like your friend knew more about the
PTO design than the engineers at TenTec...in any event.  

Somewhat more than 8 years ago I bought the PTO kit from TenTec, with the
RED GREASE and all, rebuilt the PTO and it's seen almost daily operating
since that time. No wobbly tuning, no strange feeling from 'hardened
grease' obtained from the Co-Op. 

Your second more detailed explanation sounds much more realistic than your
first one...don't get me wrong, I'm not your judge! I just don't believe we
show our fellow amateurs that its better to follow our 'amateur' advice
over the advice of the professionals who design this stuff for us to play
with. JMHO.
