As a contributor to this reflector in regards to the Scout, I thought it was
time we all took some time to understand why this reflector exists, and what
it's function is.

This reflector like the many others that exist, enables hams world wide to
contribute to constructive discussion on equipment made by a particular
manufacturer. In this case Ten Tec of course.

Hams who are interested in certain pieces of equipment, look forward to
hearing the remarks of others, their experiences, and their comments. Often
this valuable insight, assists hams in making an informed judgment on a
piece of equipment.

Criticisms of equipment pieces on a reflector such as this are inevitable.
This reflector was never intended to inflate the ego of the ten tec personnel,
or its equipment, but rather, this reflector was intended to serve the hams
and enthusiasts who use their equipment, or who are interested in such
equipment.

K5PGW's remarks I believe were uncalled for. They were an attack on the many
honest users who have given honest and well intended remarks and comments to
this reflector. We all subscribe to this reflector not because we want to
trash ten tec, but because we are all enthusiasts, and keen about Ten Tec
products.
I know Scott and the rest of the Ten Tec crew monitor this reflector, and
gain a lot of insight into their products from what is said.

Criticism of equipment, in this case the scout, has always been
constructive, and many fixes have been developed by the people who frequent
this reflector.
This is to be applauded not condemmed!

Being a ham for 4 days or 40 years, makes no difference to the equipment
being used. People have personal preferences, personal likes and dislikes,
and like wise, personal criticisms,.... this needs to be respected. With the
aid of this reflector, many of these personal needs can be met, when it
comes to using Ten Tec equipment.

I won't go into the criticisms of the Scout again as these comments are
archived if anyone needs to peruse them. But the facts are, that this rig
has some major flaws! Most of the remedies for the Scout's problems have
come from this reflector. That is what a reflector is all about. Again...we
need to applaud this!

We are all here because we enjoy, support and use Ten Tec equipment!
Please let's not confuse honest criticism with undermining or compromising a
company name. Believe me.... Ten Tec is bigger and better, than any comment
we may feel the need to make on this reflector.

I urge subscibers to this reflector, not to stop airing their opinion on Ten
Tec equipment, even if it is critical. We need, value and must have, opinion
from the public domain. After all, it helps us... the user. Never consider
these remarks, "irresponsible," (sic) but more importantly highly
responsible and greatly valued.

Let's not be gagged folks!

Maurie.
