JIm,
the easy fix for power was in QRP-ARCI quarterly some time back and might be
available from them, and certainly on the QRP-L reflector archives.

Simply put, you remove Scout cover and take a three conductor flat rainbow
cable piece, and run it under the top cover at the back and over to the mother
board where the pot is located. Unsolder the screwdriver pot. Look on it or
in the manual for its value in ohms and get a shaft pot of same value and any
wattage should do, as any pot with shaft will be higher power than the trimmer
in there now.

Solder in the flat cable. Have the flat cable wrap around the back of the
case and under it and fashion a pot mounting bracket for a shaft pot that will
fit between the raised front feet. Solder the wires to the pot, in same order
viewing shaft as they were viewing the screw adjust pot from bottom. Put lid
back on Scout.

Put a knob on it, and you are in business.
