Clark and the group,
I have and use the basic Timewave box. Eventually need to upgrade it, but for
SSB with the Scout, it does remove all 40M phone band Broadcast heterodynes,
and I notice no added signals. Be sure the overloading of the input of any
DSP does not happen, if you send in too large an audio signal, some of these
A/D things will limit and then produce spurious. Sometimes it is hard to
judge the optimum input signal, given the peak to average noise contents on
noisey bands. But, if in doubt, just back off on input level; most of the DSP
boxes have plenty of audio output to make up lowered input. I have played
with it a little on CW signals, and notice I can make it more "tight" than I
prefer to hear; but so does the Jones filter on the Scout. Just my subjective
preference. I prefer to do most of my filtering with communications phones
and my ear-brain interface, for that is all we had in the early days!

The DSPs though, are the salvation of SSB phone operators on 40M at night.
Where there is a Broadcast station causing heterodynes with another, you put
in the cancelation of the Timewave, and you can work 5 hams! Really came in
handy running large horizontal Vee Beams on field day, where all signals are
coming in at 5,9 or better!
