Hello all:
I attempted to put a newly acquired Omni D Model B on the air this weekend but
encountered a problem and was hoping someone would recognize the symptoms I
observed with the radio. First, the rig was very difficult to tune into a
G5RV on 15 meters. The tuning proceedure was by the book: first find an
inductance setting that produced maximum background noise on RX then, under
low power, adjust the tuners transmitter and antenna reactance controls for
minimum SWR. (1.2:1) Upon bringing up the power, the power supply breaker
tripped. Checking the power supply, the meter indicates the Omni drawing 3
amps at idle (receive only) and the heat sink on the rear of the rig is almost
too hot to touch.

Are these classic signs of blown finals or might something else be the
culprit? Thanks in advance for any thoughts you can pass along.
