My point is that things move on.  It doesn't mean they
necessarily get better (they generally do), but that our
perceptions and acceptance (tolerance?) levels change as they
become more a part of our lives.  I agree with you in some
respects about radios....I loved the knobs, the lights, the
dials/scales, the warmth, the glow of the filaments (and
sometimes plates), etc., in my old radios.  But, I know they
can't hold a candle to the Omni VI+ that sits on my desk.  In
their day, they were great--I would have killed for an SX-115,
101A, HQ-170, -180, etc., but things change.  Things change for
the better.  We learn new things. The sunspots come back.  Life
is good.
