I have been running my Hercules II for some time on 2 gel-cell, deep-cycle
12-volt batteries which were taken out of service in an electric wheelchair.
I like this combo, as I understand that there is little hydrogen given off
by gel-cells, and they are sealed units.
Hope I am not fooling myself, but the amp works great, and I can run a
one-hour PACTor QSO without any charging at all. Checking the battery
voltage after such a QSO, they still show better than 12 VDC.
