UPS teased me yesterday with the early arrival of the OMNI-VI+.. No P/S or
mic...
The 961 and mic came in today.. As stated, all look NEW, and with the
single exception of one screw on the side of the Omni missing (TT is
sending me one no charge) the unit looks perfect.. It has a new home in the
shack, front and center! I hooked up the P/S and a dummy load to see what I
get, and bang 98.6 watts into the load.. When I went up to the TH6-DXX it
showed me 92 watts out, into a 1.01 match across almost the complete
midsection of 15m and 10m.. Snagged a KD6 call out of California on 15 ,
and, they reported back that everything sounded great... I guess I could
'test' the 20m load, but that wouldn't be exactly kosher for a Tech+ now,
would it? I have a slope antenna set up for 80/75 and getting a 40m run
this evening while I wait on the new 238 tuner to show up on Tuesday to
hook up this tangle of ladder-line... It seems to be planning out to be a
loooong night. And, oh yes, I did start actually reading the manual on the
Omni, just so I can figure out what each little button does..
Thanks for the great rig at a good price, I just wanted to let you know it
has a good home to hang out in... I had really forgotten how nice the
Omni's were, this is the pride of the shack for a long time to come!
