yup, well its true. The computer is occationally making my Omni-V very sick
to its microprocessor.
I am not 100% certain exactly the conditions, but as best I've determined,
its when the computer chrashes which offten is a result of windows 98 having
a hissy fit.
I have the rig on in and the cable connected.
What happens is I loose the ability to push any button on the rig, band
changing, filters,, but it still announces the freq when I push the calendar
button, oh and it will not transmit at all.
Sometimes it will just not transmit, but seems ok otherwise. I immediately
disconnect the rig from the pc and go about resetting the rig over and over
and over and over and over and over until finally after I've started
screamming foul words, threts, and foaming at the mouth, it comes back to
life.
Ay ask my xyl. She'll tell you I litterally start foaming and invent entire
new foul words and in new languages.
Ay I get upset sometimes.<g>
The problem that gets me in these states is the number of resets and so
forth I have to do.
I try every reset known and even just disconnect power. I am totally lost as
to why this is happening and thought at first it was rf getting into the rig
somehow.
If someone has ever had this happen and knows why, please let me know.
I am wondering if there's something being sent out of the port during the
crash that kills the Omni.
tnx
