Dear Clark & List Members,
As a former KPH telegrapher for 15 years I feel the need to share my
experience with you. There is indeed a "spacial" condition as the phase is
altered from one ear to the other. So long as the two signals have a
different pitch or frequency, you don't need to worry about this. One of
two situations where this is beneficial is when you have two stations at a
perfect zero beat; one can be "fore" and the other "aft." The other is
detecting signals under the noise; the noise will have a random position &
the signal will be stationary. For both of these situations to be
effective you need diversity reception with separate antennas & receivers
both zero beat with each other and piped to separate ears. This is
uncommon in ham radio, but it was very effective for us.
