Well I was surprized at the great feedback om my earlier question about
Omni V SSB...sounds like I was not the first one to ask the question.
Thanks to Cliff, Clark, Mike, Reid, and the rest of you. Very nice of
you to take the time to respond. Responses all seemed right on the
target. I'd like to go one step further if you can bear with me.
My Omni came from Ten-tec used sales...so it was aligned etc and looked
like it just came out of the box (I mean not ONE scratch anywhere...and
looked like an operating room under the lid!). I got the 2.4, 1.8, 500,
250, and 500 Narrow filters on it. I am curious about the fact that some
people have put in Inrad filters and said they like it better. So....
1 - Does it doing this make a SIGNIFICANT difference?
2 - Specifically what filters should be used/replaced and what
modifications must be made? Where do you get Inrad filters? (Remember, I
am a techno-idiot).
3 - Is this a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it....so to speak!)
Believe me...I could live forever with the Omni just like it is....feels
like it was built just for me (hi hi).....but the desire to tweek and
tinker sometimes gets the best of me. All thoughts would be most
appreciated and welcome. Again, thank you all for being so helpful to a
