The Scout frequency jumping problem you refer to is probably the
one mentioned in the Scout manual and has to do with the frequency
stabilizing control. The control uses a microprocessor to measure
the frequency of the PTO and to hold it on a certain multiple. That
same chip is used as the keyer, and while you are sending CW, it is
not able to stabilize the frequency of the PTO. If you send CW for
a long period without a break, and if during that time, the PTO drifts
significantly, when you stop sending, the chip will lock on to an
adjacent multiple, hence a frequency "jump".
If this is the condition you are referring to, the Jupiter has no such
condition. It works on an entirely different principle. My
experience with both a Jupiter and a Pegasus are very good in
respect to frequency stability under all sorts of operating conditions.
In addition, the N4PY control software has provisions for
calibrating the frequency against WWV, resulting in a stable and
ACCURATE operating frequency.
I cannot see any way the Jupiter could have the "same frequency
jumping problem [BTW, that was not a problem, it was a limitation
fully disclosed by Ten Tec in the manual] as the Scout".
In my opinion, the Jupiter is a fine radio, well worth it's modest
cost, and a lot of FUN!
