High impedance can load low impedance. Just the voltage will be on the
low side, requiring lots of microphone gain. Many Shure microphones are
switchable dual low and high impedance. High impedance is probably
greater than 50,000 ohms. There are transformers to match 500 ohms
microphones to high impedance.
