Many thanks to all who replied to my request for a fix for my humming
transformer. After loosening and tightening the laminations, bathing it in
varnish, I stuck it back in the cabinet only to hear a reduced version of
the hum. When I lifted the humming transformer off the bottom (naturally I
observed all safety precautions) it was totally silent in my hand. I ended
up with 2 layers of of cardboard under the transformer to isolate it from
the metal of the cabinet floor. It almost seems as tho the 2 layers of the
cabinet bottom resonate the hum and no amount of tightening cures it in my
case. It is now silent. The audio hum I experienced was cured by moving the
supply a bit farther away from the Omni.
