[TenTec] Turns Counter for 238?

One of my hangups with the otherwise fine 238 tuner is that I can't find 
old/previous settings on the inductor.  There's no counter. 

Is putting one in practical or possible? Has anyone done it? 

In lieu of messing up the front panel (and more, I suspect), has anyone figured 
out a way to remember old settings?
