Bravo Mark, .... now if there were a few more people
besides just you and me (or so it seems) who wanted to
do these kinds of things with their DSP based radios,
we truly could then see a revolutionary change to our
radios and how they work and what they do. Y'know if
the Orion were to include such a feature it would
significantly raise the technology bar for high
performance radios (listening Ten Tec?).

There really is no technological reason why every new
model introduced shouldn't include this kind of
capability for external pre/post DSP. Even the lowly
$500 PC's pack some serious horsepower that would make
external mode implementation a very realistic
proposition. Modes like PSK31, WSJT (FSK441 & JT44),
various SSTV, etc. could all benefit greatly from
this.
