Paul K9OT and I ran 1B battery for my first serious (?) QRP effort. We used
an Argosy II that is a FD veteran. I will let Paul comment on the technical
setup and how the rig performed. He is a veteran QRP op.
However the Argosy II is not idiot-proof enough for me as it allows the
1/4" mike plug to be put in almost but not quite far enough. Took me awhile
to figure out why I wasn't putting out any power on the wattmeter :-).
Also one of the local VIPs (Border collies) bumped a cable and tripped the
breaker. That one was easy to diagnose.
We made 297 contacts, about 60% CW and 40% sideband. The antennas we will
be taking to Miquelon in August worked very well.
Our local club is doing a special event (W9D - Wisconsin Niner Dairy) the
weekend after Labor Day and our Jupiter will be the main rig. I got the
internal tuner for that type of situation.
