[TenTec] confused re Corsair II VFO jumper

Hi folks -
This is probably going to be extremely embarassing but here goes. I have not
turned on my Corsair II since selling the external VFO (shouldn't have).
Anyway - I put a RCA cable across the VFO in /out for a jumper - and I am
getting 9.000 or 91.000 on the freq readout as if it's still looking for the
external VFO. The tuner dial will not function - as if it's waiting for
control from the external VFO. Can somebody explain to me what I'm doing
wrong? Thanks and try not to laugh too hysterically. 73/Tim
