In that case, a simple note explaining the situation would have perhaps
directed the complaints at the server and NOT  the administrator!

The list administrator had no warning it was going to change. There was
a glitch at the server that reloaded the mail program with different
parameters. The list administrator hasn't been happy with the complaints
directed at him.
