Is anyone doing or has anyone done any Visual Basic programming with the
Omni VI?

I've made a logbook program for myself using Visual Basic. It does what I
want it to do...simple logbook data entry -- the commercial stuff is just
way too much in terms of unneeded/unused capabilities.

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to try to interface the logbook software to
the Omni VI to pull down the mode and frequency data. It has been a very
rocky road and I'm still not there.

I've been reading/studying the Serial Port Complete book by Jan Axelson.
It's been a help, but not completely.

I wrote a simple little program to simply ask the radio for the current
frequency, but it's very squirrelly (not consistent in the data being

Has anyone done any similar programming and can offer me any guidance? I'll
be happy to share my code with you so you can maybe see where I'm going

It wasn't until this week that I actually got back data from the Omni VI.
Now, if I can just make heads or tails out of it and get it to be stable,
that should do it.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.
